Under 8:
The lights at the State College were not nearly as bright as the enthusiastic smiles on the faces of the U8 Super Six Reds on Friday night. Quick fielding and direct hits resulted in 5 run outs, while the bowlers kept a good line and length taking extra wickets. Pulling on the pads, the Reds were equally consistent, all scoring at a strike rate of at least 50. Performances of the night went to Harvey with 3-14, and Ollie who made a quick 20 off his 10 balls. A fabulous start to the season.

Under 10:
The Blue team played the Red team for the first match of the year at Kurwongbah State School, and it was a close affair. Batting first, the Red team posted a competitive total of 181, but lost a few too many wickets (16). The Blue team were too strong, only losing 4 wickets in their chase, for 172 runs. Hayden Farnsworth (Blue) was the game high scorer with 38 runs, closely followed by Harjas Sandhu (Blue) with 32, Peter Millican (Red) with 28 and Konnor Rees (Red) with 26. Harjas also took 4 - 32 and Lucas Turner (Blue) took 3 - 19. The best figures for Red were Kaleb Rees with 1 - 5 and Konnor Rees with 1 - 12. Two highlights of the day were Aiden Abbott, who took a wicket with his very first ball ever in cricket, and an absolute screamer of a catch from Sam Caddy-Welsh from behind the stumps - diving full length to his right and taking it one-handed a couple of inches from the ground.
The game was played in great spirit and the 5 debutantes across both teams would have had a wonderful first game experience.
