The Lakes Knights Cricket Club proudly adopts the Cricket Australia Code of Behaviour and is committed to providing a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for everyone involved in our game.

We expect all players, coaches, parents, umpires, volunteers and spectators to demonstrate respect, sportsmanship and positive behaviour at all times.

COACHES

Coaches play a vital role in creating a positive cricket experience and helping players develop both on and off the field.

Coaches are expected to:

  • Put player enjoyment and development first
  • Encourage participation, friendship and teamwork
  • Maintain emotional control and provide constructive feedback
  • Focus on long-term player development rather than short-term results
  • Provide equal opportunities for all players
  • Be reasonable in their expectations and demands
  • Lead by example and uphold the Spirit of Cricket
  • Respect players, parents, officials, coaches and opponents
  • Ensure equipment and facilities are safe and appropriate
  • Support injured players and follow medical advice where required
  • Continue developing their coaching knowledge and qualification
  • Treat every participant fairly and with respect, regardless of gender, ability, culture or religion
  • Follow all Cricket Australia, Queensland Cricket and club policies

Every player represents The Lakes Knights Cricket Club whenever they train, play or participate in club activities.

Players are expected to:

  • Play by the rules and in the Spirit of Cricket
  • Respect umpires, coaches, teammates and opponents
  • Accept umpire decisions without argument
  • Control their behaviour and refrain from sledging or abuse
  • Always give their best effort
  • Be a good sport and acknowledge good performances by all players
  • Support teammates and contribute positively to the team
  • Play for enjoyment, improvement and development
  • Show respect regardless of gender, ability, culture or religion
  • Represent the club with pride both on and off the field


PLAYERS

Parents & Guardians

Parents and guardians are among the most important role models in junior sport.

Parents are expected to:

  • Encourage and support their child positively
  • Remember that cricket is for the enjoyment and Development of the players
  • Promote fair play and good sportsmanship
  • Focus on effort, learning and improvement
  • Respect officials, coaches and volunteers
  • Support all participants regardless of ability
  • Encourage children to respect the rules and Spirit of Cricket
  • Applaud good performances by both teams
  • Help create a positive and welcoming environment
  • Follow Cricket Australia, Queensland Cricket and club policies


Parents should never:

  • Force a child to participate
  • Criticise, ridicule or embarrass a child for mistakes
  • Argue with officials, coaches or volunteers
  • Engage in abusive, intimidating or unsporting behaviour


Umpires are essential to maintaining fairness, safety and the integrity of cricket.

Umpires are expected to:

  • Apply the rules fairly and consistently
  • Encourage participation and enjoyment
  • Demonstrate professionalism and impartiality
  • Promote the Spirit of Cricket
  • Treat all participants with courtesy and respect
  • Support junior player development and learning
  • Encourage sportsmanship at all times
  • Continue developing their knowledge and umpiring skills
  • Place player safety and wellbeing above all else
  • Provide every participant with a fair and inclusive environment
  • Follow Cricket Australia, Queensland Cricket and association policies
